If we aspire to reach the summit of the highest places, we must first acclimatize ourselves to the weather of high altitudes. The path to the summit is marked by checkpoints.
Checkpoint 1: Self Includes Other.
Who we are is only made possible through an inconceivable network of relationships. When we realize this, we also realize that the health of our lives depends upon the health of that network. Dedicating our lives to improving the health of that network represents the first major checkpoint on our path to the summit.
Checkpoint 2: Mama Bear.
The more capable we become of acting to improve the health of others, the more inspiring we become. With this respect and recognition comes the opportunity to mentor others — to invite others into a way of life that is profoundly meaningful and purposeful.
Checkpoint 3: Sanctuary.
Mentoring is a skill. Any skill can be refined to the point of mastery. As we master our ability to inspire and educate others, we become a true source of refuge.
