Spheres of Influence

Self-Other Paradox - Spheres of Influence.png

HOW TO READ THE DIAGRAM

The diagram shows the connection and mutual influence between communities and the individuals that compose them. Each “sphere” generates its own connections and mutual influences. For example, the health of my community influences the health of my family – and of my friends. At the same time, my family and my friends influence my community, and so on. The arrows indicate connections between groups of people, but many more arrows could be added to indicate the full extent of the connections.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

How much influence do other children have on your children? Given the choice, would you prefer that your children spend time with other kids who are compassionate, strong, honest, and motivated – or the opposite? How might this diagram serve as a tool to deepen your family’s appreciation for your community? How much might your own family benefit if other families also participated in this kind of program for cultivating family leadership?
